Graduation

Students can graduate upon completing the graduation requirements of their respective (first) majors.

Eligibility
 Eligibility
Students admitted in or after 2004 Students admitted in or before 2003
  • College of Engineering: 128 credits (exceptions for architecture majors: 160 credits for those admitted in or before 2012; 164 for those admitted from 2013 to 2015; and 158 for those admitted in 2016)
  • College of Information Technology: 128 credits (or 140 credits for those majoring in Software Convergence and admitted from 2012 to 2015 and those majoring in Military Digital Convergence or Software and Computer Engineering (newly added in 2016))
  • School of Business: 120 credits (or 129 for those admitted from 2015 to 2018)
  • College of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences: 120 credits
  • School of Medicine: 270 credits
  • College of Nursing: 128 credits
  • College of Pharmacy: 172 credits
  • 140 credits (exceptions: 240 credits for the School of Medicine and 160 for architecture majors)
  • Students who have completed registration for eight semesters (or at least six semesters for those taking the early graduation option)

In addition to obtaining the requisite number of credits, students must also:

  • complete all prerequisite courses.
  • have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • obtain at least the required minimum scores on official language proficiency tests.
  • complete all the graduation requirements of their respective departments/majors.
Graduation date
  • In principle, graduation ceremonies are held in February. Ceremonies for early graduates or those who completed their enrollment requirements in the spring semester may be held in August.
  • Graduation ceremonies held in August do not feature the awarding of degrees. The awarding of degrees takes place in February only.

Early Graduation

Students who have completed all of their graduation requirements may elect to graduate one to two semesters early (before their term of enrollment ends).

Requirements
  • Students who have registered for and completed at least six semesters at Ajou University and meet other requirements of eligibility for graduation, including their most-recent GPA, may apply for early graduation. (Students admitted after 2002 must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75.)
  • Notwithstanding the foregoing, students who have been admitted into the Master's and Doctoral Integration program may apply for early graduation only upon satisfying the following requirements:
    • have obtained the minimum necessary GPA for graduation and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
    • have registered for at least one semester of graduate studies
Application Process
  • Students may apply for early graduation by going to the school website (New) Academic Affairs → Grade/Graduation → Early Graduation Application) before or on the end date of the first quarter of the current semester in which they will have completed all of their graduation requirements.

Postponement of Graduation

Eligibility

Students who meet the graduation requirements may elect to postpone their graduation in order to complete their double major and minor requirements, teaching requirements, or requirements of the student exchange program.

Application Process

Students may apply to postpone their graduation by going to the school website ((New) Academic Affairs Info → Graduation) during the two-week window after the grades for the semester, in which they have completed all graduation requirements, are finalized. (*Students who wish to postpone graduation beyond one semester must renew their application each semester.)

E.g.) Students who wish to postpone their graduation from August 2019 to February 2020 must submit their application for postponement between 9:00am, Monday, July 1, 2019, and 11:59pm, Friday, July 12, 2019.

E.g.) Those who wish to postpone their graduation from February 2020 to August 2020 must submit their application between 9:00am, Thursday, January 2, 2020, and 11:59pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

※ Note

Students who have completed all of the graduation requirements of their (first) major, but who have not yet completed the requirements of their double major or minor must apply to postpone graduation. (The University will not automatically delay graduation for these candidates.)
